Process Models, Diversity Models, Hypertexts & Knowledge Objects
If the Performance Zone is the place where representations of business match the business tasks, are appropriate for the people doing the work, and contain just enough information, the the task of creating performance centered systems must include these activities:
(1) Creating Process Models - that is, modeling the business activities;
(2) Creating Diversity Models - that is, modeling the performers. This is what Alan Cooper calls defining personas.
(3) Creating hypertexts and knowledge objects - that is, creating a minimalist information / knowledge model for the business domain.
These three activities are done independently at first, but through the design process they are done iteratively - in relation to one another - until the Performance Zone is identified.
