PS Point of View
Performance support enables people to do it because they provide integrated task structuring, data, knowledge and tools at the time of need.
PS systems do not tax the performer's memory, nor do they require manipulation of too many variables.
The primary focus of performance support is task completion with learning a secondary consequence.
Performance Support means business performance through human performance.
focus is on a "business" outcome
the context is a system that contains a human being as an initially less-than-component component
the goal is to achieve competency - meaning the business outcome - through human performance
learning may or may not be part of the process
System consists of Human + Tools + Tasks, all of which must work together to achieve the business outcome (competency)
Various models have been invoked to achieve performance support:
 Component model
 Integration model
 Intrinsic
 Extrinsic
 External
 Learning model
 Human Factors model
 Hypertext model
 Design model
 FLENS model
 Human Activity model
 Event Monitoring model
