Alan Cooper's Personas*
Develop a precise description of the performer and what (s)he must accomplish.
Personas are useful design tools.
Success in product design comes with designing for one person, not for a large group.
Examples: Roll-aboard suitcase and Sticky Notes
Throw out the notion of the "elastic user"
Be specific - give personas names; distinguish personas from the programmers!
Real users are not designers; personas are hypothetical
Personas are precise but not necessarily accurate
Personas keep you away from edge cases
Personas end feature debates
Designers and programmers need personas
