Welcome to the June 2004 edition of .infoREADER.
This month EPSScentral is proud to introduce the EPSScentral Knowledge Network (EKN), a collection of sites based on both legacy performance support content and embellishments that provide a separate space for the business of EPSScentral. You are cordially invited to visit www.EPSScentral.NET, which is the launch point for the EKN. There you will find a link to the long awaited www.EPSScentral.INFO, our new management framework for the familiar content, plus other resources, such as this newsletter. The legacy site at pcd-innovations.com will remain available for those who prefer the familiar interface. However, all of its relevant content is being moved to the new framework.
We remind you again this month that EPSScentral is accepting entries for the 2004 PCD Awards, which have been expanded to include both in-production solutions and design concepts/prototypes. We are also accepting applications from those interested in judging the PCD Awards. See the PCD Awards section of .infoREADER for details. One of the venues for awards presentations has been chosen, namely the Training/Online Learning conference in San Francisco, October 11 - 13, 2004. A special conference-wide event has been added this year to showcase the PCD Awards. The deadline for submission has been extended to 15 June 2004.
EPSScentral continues to investigate new and exciting technologies that enable business performance through human performance. This month we are providing links to several new and innovative tools that are expanding their application to PCD. A newcomer is ActiveGuide from RockeTools, a division of Rocket Software, Inc. ActiveGuide allows developers to link and embed performance support objects into browser-based applications (all apps with HTML interfaces, such as PeopleSoft) without requiring changes to underlying source code or dependence on plug-ins. The folks at RockeTools are providing a free evaluation to .infoREADER subscribers at http://www.rocketools.com/infoREADER and asking that you provide feedback. EPSScentral encourages all interested readers to do so. See also the latest press release.
Another exciting product is Certify from WorkSoft, a company that provides outstanding performance-centered software testing and certification tools. Certify greatly enhances productivity and lowers total cost of ownership of enterprise software - by up to 87% - through a unique approach that is grounded in workflow capture. A side benefit of the WorkSoft paradigm is auto-generation of performance support objects such as documentation, Show-Me and Do-It-For-Me interventions. WorkSoft was recently awarded $7Million in Series C venture funding to enhance its performance support offerings with exciting new products. Further details are provided in this issue.
Finally, OnDemand Software has announced the release of OnDemand Personal Navigator 8.5, featuring superior context sensitive help and enhanced usability focus for the latest version of the reknown synchronized content platform. See the press release and the Design/Development Tool section for further details.
We welcome your feedback on the EKN, and value your continued patronage and support.
Warm regards,
Gary Dickelman
